There are two methods for installing a remote agent
- Installation via the
WiSentry Setup File.
If you downloaded WiSentry, this file would be called wisentry.exe.
- Installation via the
Remote Agent
Utility.
After installing the WiSentry Agent, see
Configuring an Agent for
further information.
Remote Agents can be installed via the WiSentry.exe
setup file.
- Copy or take the WiSentry setup file to the
remote machine you wish to deploy a remote agent on.
- Start the installation program and navigate to
the Select Features panel.
- Unselect the Control Server, Administrator Console
and Files to install Remote AP Detection Agent.
- Select Next and you will be prompted for the
Agent Mode. See
VLAN and Trunked
Environments for more information on which mode to install.
F
Your VLAN must be setup
before installing a WiSentry Remote Agent in VLAN mode.
This
is because the WiSentry Remote agents binds with the adapter when
installed. If you have not previously installed a VLAN, the
WiSentry Remote Agent will bind with the physical adapter and as a
result, will not see the VLAN(s).
- Select Next and the Remote Agent will installed
on this machine.
Now that the Remote Agent has
been installed, you can use the IP Address of this machine to
Configure the Remote Agent.
If you previously installed the Files to install
Remote AP Detection Agent, you can also install a remote agent from the
command line.
- Open a command prompt.
- Navigate to the WiSentry directory.
Typically, this will be C:\Program Files\WiMetrics\WiSentry.
- Start rinstall.bat The format for this
utility is
rinstall
\\machinename <administrator name> <password>
- Rinstall will copy the remote agent to the remote
machine
and automatically start it.
- Agents installed with Rinstall are always
installed as Normal Mode agents. See
Configure the Remote Agent
if this agent needs to support a VLAN.
Now that the Remote Agent has
been installed, you can use the IP Address of this machine to
Configure the Remote Agent.
